Jenny Barbour, founder and director of Jenny Barbour & Associates, is realising her vision of raising the benchmark for IT recruitment within Australia. Her dynamic, consultative management style has attracted and retained expert staff, IT contractors, candidates and blue chip companies.

Jenny Barbour’s 20 years of IT industry experience has encompassed Resource Management, Resource Solutions and IT recruitment. Her decision in 1998 to start a company specialising in IT recruitment was driven by a passion to address an increasing market problem – ‘the cost of Human Capital’, particularly, ‘the cost of getting IT wrong.’ Jenny Barbour’s ability to consistently ‘get IT right’ drives her business success.

In 1997, Jenny co-founded the Women are IT (WIT) network with the vision to create an organisational framework upon which women in IT could extend their network and expand their knowledge in an environment that encourages open conversation and debate. She is also a founding board member of AWISE (Australian Women in IT and Science Entity) and a board member of the Victorian ICT for Women Network.

In April 2008 Jenny Barbour was awarded the Shilling Wall Tribute Certificate to acknowledge that she has now joined the inspiring community of women, inscribed on The Shilling Wall at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre. The Shilling Fund has been established by the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre (QVWC) to provide a lasting tribute to the contribution of women to our community and our lives. It celebrates the achievements of women and supports projects that help women break down barriers, improve their health and wellbeing and achieve their full potential.

Jenny Barbour’s dynamic presentation style and entrepreneurial success story generate high demand as a keynote speaker at IT and education sector events. She has a particular passion for inspiring young women to choose a career in IT: “My journey proves that women can excel in the rapid-paced, exciting IT ‘World’.”
